Made In Taiwan Summary

Nathan and Oscar. Two normal men curious about finding about where they originated from. They started with Nathan. Canoeing to where his Parents were. They were welcomed into a marae. After all the talking, meeting and greeting, Nathan told his parents he had something to show them. He pulled out the envelope and showed his parents who they originated from. Nathan’s dad was a descendant from Maui and his mother, who everyone thought was from England was really from America. Next stop Rarotonga. This is where Nathans ancestors were before they arrived in New Zealand. The Cook Island people share similar hospitality to maori’s. He got to meet some of the people he was related to. Now off to Samoa to meet Oscars family and find out where he descended from. Like Oscar, Nathan had connections too. Some people there had the same clan father as him. Oscar finds out he is a direct descendant from Ina. Possibly the name people gave to the first polynesian women according to what oscar said. Turns out they’re from Asia. Onto Vanuatu.As Nathan said, the people from lapita had landed here 3000 years ago, where their pottery has been found in Samoa and Tonga. They went to this archeological dig with all these skeletons lying everywhere. The people that work there have never found a skull with the rest of the body. Last stop Taiwan. They have similar similarities with the maori and polynesian cultures. But yeah after this they find out how and where their ancestors were before arriving in Samoa and New Zealand. Lastly I’d like to say that I think this trip was worth it I mean finding where you’re from or who you’re descendant of is really interesting, especially when your from like Taiwan or somewhere around Asia.
